The application deadline for the 2010 Summer Research Training Program (SRTP), Amgen Scholars Program, and NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) is February 2, 2010. Participants are chosen from a large, national applicant pool. A phone interview may be conducted. A UCSF Faculty Review Committee will evaluate completed applications. Applicants will be notified beginning March 2, 2010.
Students whose undergraduate institutions are on the quarter system may still participate; they will start the program immediately following the completion of their spring term, and finish with the rest of the program participants in early August. Applicants will not be penalized for a late start date.
General Seminars are held once a week. All students in the SRTP are required to attend this seminar series, which provides co-curricular guidance in areas including the graduate school application process, ethics in research, and effective presentation skills. Basic Science Seminars, featuring presentations on research being conducted by prominent UCSF faculty, are held once a week. All students in Biological or Biomedical Science labs are required to attend this seminar series.
Date: August 2nd, 3rd, & 4th
Times: 8AM - 1PM
Each student in the SRTP will give a 15-minute oral presentation on their summer research. The audience for oral presentations will consist of fellow SRTP participants, faculty and laboratory staff, and other campus representatives.

SRTP participants also present their summer research in a poster session. This gives all students the opportunity to present their findings in a different format and setting.
