Student-Led Initiatives

Our students in the Graduate Division are scientists and leaders in our community. The groups below are student-led associations and groups that advocate for students, focusing on building community with students who share similar social identities.

Black Excellence in STEM (BE-STEM) exists to increase Black representation in STEM and to mentor the next generation of Black scientists. BE-STEM supports Black graduate students and postdocs at UCSF by creating a welcoming community, representing and advocating for the needs and interests of the community, promoting recruitment and retention, and supporting professional development.
