2025 Candidacy Ceremony
Tuesday, February 25, 2025, 3 to 5 p.m.
Rutter Center (1675 Owens St, UCSF Mission Bay campus)
Robertson Auditorium (2nd Floor)
Arrival time for CANDIDATES: 2:00 p.m. (Check in at Genentech Hall Atrium for group photo.)
Arrival time for FACULTY: 2:30 p.m.
Auditorium opens for GUESTS: 2:30 p.m.
Ceremony begins: 3 p.m.
Reception to follow. Event concludes by 5 p.m.

Invitations & Registration
Invitations were sent in early January to all PhD students who advanced to candidacy between Jan. 1, 2024 and Oct. 31, 2024. Registration period is now closed.
Inviting Guests
Each participating student will be limited to two (2) guests for the 2025 ceremony. (This does not include the student's primary adviser, who will also be invited.) Note that the ceremony will be live streamed for remote audiences.

- Our event will be live streamed and recorded for on-demand viewing. We will also have a professional photographer documenting the ceremony and festivities.

Flowers: Flowers and leis ARE permitted.
The following items are not permitted in the venue:
- Do not bring helium-filled balloons. They are prohibited from the venue.
- Glitter and confetti are also not allowed.
- Amplification devices are not permitted.
- Outside food or beverages are not permitted.
- Large signs/banners are not permitted, or large signs attached to a stick or pole.
- You may take photos and videos; however, tripods and drones are not permitted.
Live Stream
The 2025 Candidacy Ceremony will be live-streamed for remote viewers on YouTube, starting at 3 p.m. PST on February 25. The link will be available here in the weeks before the ceremony.
