The student and postdoc-led Science Policy Group at UCSF has organized a trio of virtual panel discussions they are calling the "Hard Questions Series," each to focus on a crucial topic that sparks intense debate.

This first event, on the crisis surrounding housing, evictions, and homelessness, will feature panelists Margot Kushel, MD, director of the UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations; Shanti Singh, communications and legislative director of renters' rights advocacy group Tenants Together; and journalist TJ Johnson, who is the assistant editor of Street Sheet, published by the Coalition on Homelessness.

RSVP to receive the Zoom link for any of the events in this series. Future events include:

  • Defunding Policing and Police Abolition (Monday, Oct. 4, 4 p.m.)
  • The Future of AI: Bias, Policy, and More (Wednesday, Oct. 13, 4 p.m.)

The Graduate Division encourages our students and postdocs to advocate for basic research, higher education, science funding, and scientific rigor in policy and decision-making. Getting involved in the Science Policy Group at UCSF is a great way to do that!
