Submission Guidelines
Events
The Graduate Division will post on this website events and important deadlines that are 1) open/relevant to all graduate students and 2) of particular interest to graduate students. Please submit dates, location, and a brief description of your event, preferably two weeks beforehand.
Student Weekly Email: Managed by Student Academic Affairs, the Weekly Email is the best way to make sure your event listing reaches all students. Be sure to submit information about all of your events, large and small, to Kathy Chew.
Don't forget about the general campus calendar at calendar.ucsf.edu. (Look for the submission button on the upper right. A login is required to submit events.)
News
Please be encouraged to submit news items that relate to graduate programs, current graduate students, alumni, or faculty; or news that would be of special interest to these same audiences or to prospective students. For example:
- Awards and other milestones or accomplishments
- Activities that graduate students or graduate program faculty are involved in, especially those that are high profile; those that advocate for science or our graduate programs; make science understandable to a general audience; involve community engagement or partnerships with industry or external partners
- Outreach/diversity efforts
- Student volunteer efforts
Ideally, news items will be submitted in the form of a brief story that only needs light editing, but we need at the very least the “who, what, where, and when” and an appropriate photo. In some cases, we may also submit news items to Pulse of UCSF or pitch stories to UCSF.edu or Synapse on your behalf.
Events and news stories will be curated and may also be edited for length and style.
Social Media
- The Graduate Division’s Twitter handle is @UCSFGradDiv. We will tweet or retweet announcements or news related to any of the graduate programs. If you don't have a Twitter account, send us your suggested tweet and we can put it out for you. Tweets must be 280 characters or fewer.
- The Graduate Division’s Facebook page is facebook.com/UCSFGraduate. We may post your events or news items here as well. Again, please provide us with at least the "who, what, where, and when," a photo, and any applicable links.
Student Organizations
Be sure to share your events at least with the Associated Students of the Graduate Division (ASGD) and the Postdoctoral Scholars’ Association too if your event is open to postdocs.
