D'Anne Duncan, PhD, assistant dean for diversity and learner success in the Graduate Division, was recently featured in Science magazine in the first installment of a new series, “A day in the life of a scientist,” which explores the wide range of career options available to STEM-trained individuals.
D’Anne – a PhD neuroscientist – no longer performs bench research, but in her two-and-a-half years in an administrative role in the UCSF Graduate Division, first as director of diversity and outreach, and now as assistant dean, she has already made a tremendously positive impact on students and postdocs.
She spoke with Science Careers about the day-to-day realities and the joys and challenges of her position. Read the full interview in Science.
