SACNAS at UCSF is a chapter of the all-inclusive national Society for the Advancement of Chicanas/os and Native Americans in Science organization, whose goal is to promote the recruitment, retention and career development of underrepresented minorities in the sciences. If you are looking at potential graduate school programs in the life/health sciences, and you are involved with SACNAS at your undergraduate institution, we strongly encourage you to apply to UCSF! Chapter activities include:
- Monthly seminars wherein SACNAS members – students and postdocs – practice presenting their research and hear about the current work of fellow members
- Mentoring underrepresented students at local high schools and colleges
- Attending the annual SACNAS National Conference to present research and network with fellow SACNAS members across the country
