Grad Slam returns to UCSF! After a two-year hiatus, our popular science communication competition is back, and we are planning for an exciting event on Thursday, March 31, 2022, 4-6 p.m. PST. Ten PhD student finalists will present their research in three minutes or less, in language accessible to a general audience. It's a celebration not only of the finalists and contest winner, but also of graduate research at UCSF and of scientific inquiry.
Due to current campus event policies, the live event audience at Mission Bay will be limited to invited guests of the finalists. The event will be live-streamed for remote viewers, who will be able to vote for the "People's Choice" audience award.
Cash prizes of $4,000, $2,000, and $1,000 will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners chosen by the judges. And the audience will choose the "People's Choice" winner, who will receive $750.
