Join us for the 7th UCSF Postdoc Slam competition! Our popular research communication competition for postdocs is back, and we are planning an exciting event on Wed., Sept. 18, 2024, 4-6 p.m. PDT.
Ten UCSF postdoc finalists will present their research in three minutes or less, in language accessible to a general audience. It's a celebration not only of the finalists and contest winner, but also of postdoctoral research at UCSF and of scientific inquiry. Postdoc Slam is a featured event in UCSF's National Postdoc Appreciation Week activities.
There will be two ways to attend:
In-Person: Byers Auditorium, Genentech Hall at Mission Bay. Advance registration is not required. Please sign in at the check-in table. (UCSF folks, please bring your ID to swipe.) Auditorium doors will open at 3:45 p.m; the program starts at 4 p.m. Be prompt to make sure you get a seat!
Online: The competition will be live-streamed broadly for remote viewers.
Both in-person attendees and remote viewers will be able to cast a vote for the "People's Choice" award.
Cash prizes of $4,000, $2,000, and $1,000 will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners chosen by the panel of judges. And the audience will choose the "People's Choice" winner, who will receive $750. Finalists who do not win a cash prize will each receive a $100 Amazone gift card.
UCSF is committed to providing accessible and inclusive programming to all participants. To request a reasonable accommodation for this event, please contact Melissa Serrano at [email protected] as soon as possible.
